By 2015, we'll be recycling 70 billion litres of water a year - that's up to 12% of Sydney's water needs. Increased water recycling is a key focus for Sydney Water and new, innovative and cost effective ways to treat and use recycled water are continuing to be investigated.
The Hoxton Park Recycled Water Scheme is one of the pipe recycled water projects that NetWorks Alliance is currently involved in.
Under this scheme, future homes in the area will be provided with two water supplies – recycled water and drinking water. 900 million litres of recycled water will be supplied to businesses and up to 7,000 homes in the southern western Sydney region by 2015. Recycled water will be used for toilet flushing, gardens and other outdoor uses, and for local industry and irrigation.
As part of this project, NetWorks Alliance is building new water infrastructure in the Denham Court and Edmondson Park area.
